Jom Mancing Community Rules

Last updated: 31 October 2026

In short: post real catches, respect other anglers, fish legally and safely.

1. Post real catches

  • Only post catches you or your group actually caught.
  • Do not reuse other people's photos or edit photos to change a fish's size.
  • Enter honest weights and lengths. Leaderboard catches may be checked, and fake ones will be removed.
  • Tag the correct kolam or spot. Do not tag a kolam you did not fish at.

2. Respect other anglers

  • Criticise techniques, not people. Friendly banter is fine; insults, mocking and harassment are not.
  • No hate speech or attacks based on race, religion, gender, disability, origin or any other personal trait.
  • No threats, bullying or encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
  • Do not post other people's personal information (phone numbers, addresses, plate numbers) without their permission.
  • Do not impersonate another angler, a kolam, a shop or an organisation.

3. Keep it clean

  • No sexual or nude content.
  • No graphic violence or gore. Normal fishing and cleaning a catch are fine; animal cruelty is not.
  • Keep language suitable for a general audience, including younger users.

4. Fish legally

Do not post content that promotes or shows:

  • fishing in protected areas, marine parks or private property without permission;
  • banned methods such as poison (tuba), explosives (bom ikan) or electric fishing (renjatan elektrik);
  • catching or selling protected species, or keeping undersized fish where limits apply;
  • breaking a kolam's own rules.

5. Fish safely

Do not encourage dangerous behaviour, such as going out to sea in a storm warning, fishing in restricted or unsafe areas, or skipping life jackets on a boat.

6. No spam or scams

  • No repeated posts, chain messages or mass comments.
  • No advertising or selling in comments or catch posts. Shops and sellers should use their listings.
  • No fake giveaways, scams, phishing links or requests for money.

7. Reviews must be fair

  • Review a kolam only if you have been there.
  • Base reviews on your own experience. Do not post fake reviews, or reviews for a kolam you own, work for or compete with.

8. Respect copyright

Only post photos and videos you took or have permission to use.

9. What happens if rules are broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  • remove the content;
  • remove catches from leaderboards;
  • temporarily limit posting or commenting;
  • suspend or permanently delete the account.

Serious cases, such as threats or illegal activity, may be reported to the authorities.

10. Reporting

If you see something that breaks these rules, email jommancingg@gmail.com with a link or screenshot.
